I did some quick experimentation on planting 36 seeds vs 9 (maximum spread) and it seems the slowness vs having more seeds roughly evens out. So I'd everything together, because it requires less babysitting. Once you unlock Ichor Syrup it stays unlocked in all future ascensions, so it is better to use Cosmic Beginner's Luck on a fresh ascension ...
